Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about ordering, delivery, our catalogue and the services we offer. Can't find what you're looking for? Contact us directly.

The easiest way is to send us your book list by email at info@transmedia.nl. An ISBN list in Excel, PDF or any other format works fine. You can also order directly through our online catalogue. A dedicated account manager handles your enquiry and aim to come back to you with a quote the same day.

Yes. To place orders with us you need a customer account. Setting one up is straightforward, contact us and we will arrange it within a short time. Accounts are available for schools, universities, libraries and other institutions.

There is no minimum order quantity. We can deliver a single copy just as easily as a bulk order of several hundred titles. Shipping is included in our all-in price, so there are no additional costs regardless of order size.

Yes, and we recommend it. Send us your ISBN list and we will provide pricing and availability before you commit to anything. There is no obligation attached to a quote request.

We aim to process all orders the same day they are received. Once confirmed, we will get to work on sourcing your titles straight away and keep you informed of any updates along the way.

Yes. We are specialised in sourcing second-hand books worldwide and do this on a regular basis. If you are looking for a specific out-of-print or hard-to-find title, contact us and we will look into it for you. We will always provide a price and the condition of the book upfront before you commit. Please note that second-hand books cannot be returned.

Non-laminated books can be returned in principle, provided the publisher permits it. We handle each return request individually and will always work with you to find a suitable solution. That said, we encourage our customers to order only what they need. We aim to keep returns to a minimum, not just for practical reasons, but because unnecessary return shipments carry an environmental cost we would rather avoid. If you are unsure about quantities or editions before placing your order, we are happy to advise.

Delivery times depend on the titles ordered and destination. From order confirmation, UK titles typically arrive within 2 to 4 weeks and US titles within 3 to 4 weeks, depending on availability with the publisher. We will always give you a realistic estimate when confirming your order.

We deliver to schools, universities and libraries in more than 30 countries worldwide. If you are unsure whether we deliver to your location, just ask.

All orders are processed through our warehouse in the Netherlands. For delivery within Europe we work with DHL. Larger consignments travel via trusted European freight partners.

We offer an all-in price: shipping is included in the book price. There are no additional charges for shipping, customs or handling. The price in your quote is the price you pay, with no surprises on delivery.

Yes. We work with a Track and Trace system that allows you to follow your shipment at every stage. Once your order is dispatched we will provide you with the tracking details.

Yes. We can group and label shipments according to any reference you provide, such as class, year group, department, teacher name or cost centre. Let us know your preferences when placing your order.

Consolidated shipping means we hold your order at our warehouse until you are ready to receive it, then ship everything in a single consignment. This is popular with schools that want to receive all books at once, particularly around holiday periods. Consolidating your order into a single shipment also reduces the environmental impact of your delivery, which is another good reason to consider it.

Our catalogue gives you access to over 10 million titles from more than 4,000 publishers. You can search by ISBN, title, author or keyword. Once you have an account you can add titles to an order directly from the catalogue. Please note that prices shown are indicative list prices. For actual pricing, request a quote and we aim to confirm the same day.

Yes. We can supply virtually every book in the world, as long as it can be purchased and imported. Our publisher network is extensive and we do this on a daily basis. Send us the ISBN or title and we will check availability and pricing for you.

For online databases and digital content collections we can arrange access for institutions. Contact us to discuss what is available for your subject area.

Yes. In addition to academic books, we can arrange continuation orders for serial publications and supply grey literature and reports for research institutions. Contact us directly to discuss your requirements.

A continuation order means we automatically supply each new volume or issue of a series as it is published, without you needing to re-order each time. This service is designed for serial publications, journals, yearbooks and regularly updated reference series, not for standard textbooks. It is ideal for research libraries and institutions that need to stay current with ongoing publications. We manage the standing order and notify you when a new issue is on its way.

Library-ready processing means we prepare books for immediate use before they are delivered. This includes adding bibliographic data, classification labels, barcodes and cover lamination. Books arrive ready to be placed on the shelf straight away.

Yes. We offer professional cover lamination as part of our library-ready service. Laminated covers protect books from wear and significantly extend their lifespan. We use high quality film at competitive rates. You can request this when placing your order.

Yes. We can invoice in the publisher's original currency or in another currency on request. Let us know your preferred currency when setting up your account.

Yes. If you need your order held until a specific date, we can store it at our warehouse and dispatch according to a schedule that suits you. This is common for schools that want books ready for the first day of term without receiving delivery too far in advance.

Yes. We are experienced in working within institutional procurement requirements, including purchase order workflows, formal quotations and split invoicing by department or cost centre. Contact us to discuss your institution's requirements.
